Primagas Spain dedicates one full week per year to intensify safety awareness by employees. Called "safety week", in 2005 it included simulating a major LPG bulk vehicle accident. The incident involved the fire brigade, road policy officers, medics, transport companies and the Primagas Spain team. It was an opportunity to test all Primagas accident procedures and the emergency services response process. DVD’s of the incident have been distributed to the police, fire brigade and local government to be used as training aids. Other topics covered during "Safety Week" included presentations and information for all Primagas employees on health care and nutrition, defensive driving training to improve road safety, fire fighting training for employees and installers.
In Turkey, Ipragaz is involved in a number of ongoing health and safety initiatives. The Healthy Taxi driver Campaign focuses on a group of Ipragaz customers who earn a low income and are unable to benefit from good social security arrangements. Particularly for those who spend most of the day sitting down, regular check-ups can help identify health problems at an early stage. Working with Medline, a mobile health organization, Ipragaz offers taxi drivers health checks and eye tests. These both take place in mobile centers at gas stations - convenient and time saving for the taxi drivers.
